KEY POINTS:
Television ratings for the 32nd America's Cup have ebbed and flowed with Team New Zealand's fortunes in Valencia.
At the start of race one early last Sunday morning, 160,000 people watched TV1's coverage.
Team New Zealand lost the first race, and the next night audiences dropped to 80,000. But NZL92 won, and viewership for the highlights at 7am on Monday was 275,000.
Then 122,000 viewers tuned in for race four early on Thursday. Internet traffic seeking America's Cup coverage has been immense.
The New Zealand Herald site, www.nzherald.co.nz, received a record 1.7 million hits on Wednesday, following Team New Zealand's second win in race three - around 400,000 more than usual.
The Robertsons of Glendowie, Auckland, are among those losing sleep.
Dad Kevin staggered, bleary-eyed, out of bed yesterday morning to join the rest of the yachting-mad family - bar mum Cherry - in once again cheering on the black boat.
Also up were sons David, 22, a former youth windsurfing world champion, Phil, 21, top youth squadron member, and Andrew, 15.
The four male Robertsons haven't missed a race. "We're a pretty typical Kiwi family," Kevin says. "I think prior to the whole thing we all thought it was going to be a whitewash, and it hasn't been, so it's great."
Kevin Robertson is manager of Auckland's Akarana Yacht Club.
