Cruize still feels like winner

Being on New Zealand's Got Talent has helped kick-start Cruize Karaitiana's music career.

The 23-year-old former Juken Mill worker is disappointed he didn't make into the top three of the television talent show after making the top 10 but feels he is a winner despite not being voted into one of the top spots.

Karaitiana told the Times-Age he was downhearted discovering he was out, but he was adamant the final three earned their spot.

"I was a bit gutted but those three definitely deserved to be there. Everyone was awesome. I was happy for them," he said. "I did breath a sigh of relief it was over though. Now I can relax for a while."

He doesn't feel like a loser though with plans to release his first single mid-2014.

"Ever since the show I've had heaps of offers from music companies. One label that has shown interest is going to help me release my first single. That's something I never thought would happen. There is huge interest in me ... I have a manager from the show helping me find the right people to go with. It has kicked-started my career as a musician. I'm excited. I've had a lot of feedback and a lot of support."

The show was the perfect platform for any rising star, Karaitiana said.

"You are putting yourself on the national stage with some the best talent this country has to offer. It's a great platform for a musician."

Being showcased is exciting for this musician who as a young boy began putting on shows in front of family.

"It's a dream come true for me. I've always wanted to be on the stage singing. This is just the beginning for me," he said.
