Cunard Line's newest luxury liner, the Queen Elizabeth, graced Auckland's shores yesterday with a brief visit.
The $660 million cruise ship, which joined the line in October 2010, arrived at Princes Wharf from Suva early in the morning for a 13-hour stop before making its way south to Wellington in the evening.
The 294m-long Queen Elizabeth weighs 90,901 tons, has 16 decks and can carry up to 2092 passengers. But it's not Cunard's largest ship - that honour goes to the RMS Queen Mary II.
The Queen Elizabeth's interior was inspired by high-society glamour of the 1930s and 1940s - a reminder of the first Cunard liner to bear the name.
