Financially troubled Te Wananga o Aotearoa's crown manager is to be appointed its new commissioner, Labour MP Steve Maharey said today.
On Monday , the Government announced it would bail out the wananga with a $20 million loan.
But Mr Maharey said the loan was no favour because crown manager Brian Roche would be appointed commissioner.
Mr Roche was in February appointed crown observer and last month crown manager.
Mr Maharey's revelation comes despite procedures to put a commissioner in place only just beginning. The wananga council have until Saturday to initially respond and then 21 days for further consultation.
