KEY POINTS:
A cross-dressing fraudster caught posing as a female nurse in three Christchurch hospitals has pleaded guilty to 38 charges.
Turori Chapman, 26, appeared in Wanganui District Court yesterday facing 50 charges.
He pleaded guilty to 38 of the charges in a plea bargain and was remanded for sentencing on January 31, the Dominion Post reported today.
Four of the charges were related to impersonating a clinical nurse in Christchurch, Princess Margaret and Hillman hospitals between October 6 and 9.
Other charges included a $1200 shopping spree with a stolen credit card in Wellington, more than $700 in unpaid accommodation, and more than $2000 worth of goods purchased with a stolen chequebook between Whakatane and Rotorua.
Detective Constable Bruce Lomax said outside the court he had never come across such a confident conman.
Canterbury District Health Board's investigation into Chapman's impersonations at the three hospitals found he did not care for patients or use medical equipment.
