A critically injured person was left behind by their car mates after a serious crash in Wainoni, Christchurch this morning.
The single vehicle crash happened on Pages Rd, near Baffin St, about 6am.
A police spokesperson said three other occupants of the vehicle initially left the scene but returned, and are now speaking with police.
Police wanted to emphasise the importance of remaining at the scene in the event of a crash, and ensuring that everyone involved is safe and receives appropriate medical attention, the spokesperson said.
Traffic is being diverted through Baffin Street and Ottawa Road while the Serious Crash Unit attends.
