A criminal inquiry has been launched into the death of a three-and-a-half month old baby boy, police say.
The boy was flown to Christchurch Hospital by helicopter in a critical condition on August 30.
The baby was taken off life support just after 3am the following day.
In a statement released this morning, police say they are currently undertaking a criminal investigation into this matter.
Officer have spoken with "a number of people in the Selwyn area" in relation to the incident.
