A man and a woman have been charged with murder and torture after an 8-year-old girl was found dead in Queensland on the weekend.
The pair, who police say were known to the child, were charged with one count each of murder, torture and failure to provide necessities of life.
Police said they found the girl dead at a home in Rangeville, Toowoomba, about 130km west of Brisbane, after they were called there about 5.30pm on Saturday.
Detectives from the Toowoomba Child Protection and Investigation Unit launched an investigation with the support of the Child Trauma Unit and the Homicide Investigation Unit.
A 50-year-old Rangeville man and a 46-year-old Rangeville woman were taken into custody on Tuesday.
