KEY POINTS:
The oldest of the five people accused of abusing Rotorua toddler Nia Glassie has been granted bail.
In the High Court at Rotorua today, Justice Paul Heath granted bail with strict conditions to William Curtis, 47.
However he dismissed bail appeals lodged by Michael Paul Pearson, 19, and Oriwa Terrina Kemp, 17.
The three were appealing District Court Judge Paul McGuire's earlier decision not to grant them bail.
Three-year-old Nia died in Auckland's Starship Hospital on August 3 from injuries allegedly inflicted at her Rotorua home.
Five people were charged with assaulting the toddler.
Last month Nia's stepfather, Wiremu Curtis, 17, had his bail revoked and is in custody.
He is the partner of Nia's mother Lisa Kuka, 34.
Curtis' brother Michael Curtis is also in custody.
