KEY POINTS:
A Mongrel Mob member accused of the attempted murder of a rival Hell's Angel member was remanded in custody for a week when he appeared in Hastings District Court today.
Alan Waihirere Waa, 26, Flaxmere, Hastings, is jointly charged with other gang members with attempting to murder Wayne Paul Tweedle.
The charge follows the shooting of the 29-year-old Hell's Angel member in the back at close range while he was riding his motor cycle near Dannevirke.
Waa, who has not entered a plea, was remanded in custody until May 10 for a bail application.
He is also charged with conspiring with three others to help Patrick Keefe, 37, of Flaxmere, to avoid prosecution for the unlawful possession of a firearm and to conspiring to arrange for the disposal of a firearm to prevent it from being used in evidence against him and others.
A total of eight Mongrel Mob members are facing charges relating to the shooting.
