KEY POINTS:
One of Parliament's most ardent advocates on law and order, New Zealand First MP Ron Mark, was burgled over Christmas for what he says is about the 10th time.
But he says he has not reported many of burglaries because he did not expect any action.
This Christmas, however, he did report the fact that a building on a rural property he has in Canterbury was cleaned out - again.
"We have had some valuable property stolen from there."
Mr Mark would not say what was stolen or what the value of it was.
But he said yesterday: "I have had a personal reminder of how it feels to be a victim of crime and it is something I came to this Parliament to deal with.
"It has also been a personal reminder as to why I haven't reported some of the burglaries out there - because nothing ever happens."
Having been a fierce critic of police responses in the past, he found the police control centre was " very professional".
