Dragging his partner by the hair and banging her face against a wooden pole has earned a man a community work sentence.
Shane Manson Ratana pleaded guilty in the Whanganui District Court to assault with intent to injure. He appeared before Judge Philip Crayton on Tuesday for sentence.
On July 4, Ratana was at work when he got into an "initially verbal" argument with the victim, the judge said.
It "lead to you grabbing her by the hair".
Ratana punched the victim twice in the face, yelling abuse at her. The victim got up from the ground and left.
