Indecent assault arrest after burglary in Hamilton overnight on Saturday

Police have arrested and charged a man with indecent assault and burglary after an incident at a Hamilton house on Saturday night.

The 20-year-old man was to appear in Hamilton District Court today to face the charges following the overnight incident in Hamilton East.

It appears that the man entered the property through an unlocked door at around 3am, while the residents were asleep, police said.

They said the incident highlighted the importance of making sure all doors and windows are secured at night.
