A 77-year-old man has had $45,000 worth of antique motorbikes and engines stolen from his Hamilton home.
Police investigating the theft of three rare motorbikes and two display engines believe he was targeted by the raiders, who broke in just over a week ago.
Others with similar interest in historic machinery are being asked to pass any information about the theft to police.
"We're hoping that mechanics, spare parts dealers, other collectors or even scrap merchants all keep an eye, or an ear out for any information on the collection's whereabouts," said Constable Wayne Shanks.
The collection was estimated to be worth $45,000, and the items held significant sentimental value to the owner who had one bike for 60 years.
