A Hamilton lawyer convicted for his involvement in a $6.4 million property scam in 2004 had his appeal dismissed yesterday.
John Fong was one of 25 people caught in Operation Allsorts, a five-year police investigation that uncovered the biggest property and loans fraud ring in New Zealand history.
Fong was convicted last year of obtaining by deception and sentenced to 300 hours' community work.
At his trial last year, Fong, a conveyancing solicitor, admitted altering a mortgage transfer document but claimed he did so by mistake.
