Cricketer Tama Canning has been fined after a late-night incident in an Auckland nightclub last week.
He allegedly urinated at the bar and although he claims he has no recollection of the incident, he has accepted his behaviour was inappropriate and was the result of a bout of heavy drinking that night.
He was fined an undisclosed amount by Auckland Cricket under the provisions of the domestic playing agreement, which Canning admitted he had breached.
"This is an extremely unfortunate incident that reflects very badly on Tama after he had enjoyed a successful season on the field," Auckland Cricket chief executive Andrew Eade said yesterday.
"He deeply regrets his behaviour and understands it is totally unacceptable if he wishes to remain part of Auckland Cricket in the future."
Both Canning and Auckland Cricket have apologised to the nightclub.
On the night of the incident, Canning, 28, had been named joint Auckland cricketer of the year with fellow New Zealand international Lou Vincent.
