Firefighters are still at the scene of a scrub fire north of Auckland that destroyed more than 10 hectares of vegetation.
Northern Fire Service shift manager Paul Radden said two rural fire ground crews were dampening down hot spots as efforts were winding down at the Stillwater site.
Two trucks and a tanker were now left to keep watch this morning in case new fires flared up.
At its height four helicopters and 10 fire trucks, including tankers, fought the fire fanned by gusty winds.
Some 40 firefighters were battling the blaze on the ground.
