Two people have been rescued after their vessel lost steering in rough seas off Raglan this morning.
Coastguard Northern Region duty officer Nico Doodeman said the alarm was raised just before 7am when a 5-metre vessel struck problems off Jacksons Reef.
He said conditions at the time were extreme with 75km/h winds whipping up high seas.
Despite the high swells a rescue vessel was able to pull the two crew to safety.
The Coastguard then towed the foundering vessel back to shore.
