Two men diving for crayfish got into trouble in the water of the West Coast this morning after their boat flipped.
Police were called about 10am today to Woodpecker Bay, near Charleston where it was reported one person was in trouble in the water.
Two men in their 40s had been diving for crayfish when their boat flipped. Both were wearing wetsuits. One of the men managed to swim to shore and raised the alarm.
Police deployed the NZCC Rescue Helicopter and Coastguard from Greymouth.
By the time emergency services arrived at the scene the second male had also managed to swim safely to shore.
