Serious crashes have been causing delays for Christchurch commuters this evening.
State Highway 74 Queen Elizabeth II Drive was closed between Winters and Phillpotts Rds, after a three-car crash about 4.45pm.
The cars have been towed away, but the road was closed in both directions while an oil slick was cleaned up.
Meanwhile, two cars have crashed on State Highway 73 Yaldhurst Road, with one car ending up in a ditch.
Police say they have also been busy with several minor crashes around the city.
