Doctors in New York were last night hoping to get a reaction from a Kiwi woman still unconscious after she was critically injured in a helicopter crash.
Wellington-born Helen Tamaki's mother and sister arrived in the city last night after a 16-hour trip.
They planned to go straight to Bellevue Hospital to see her, and the rest of the family in New Zealand were anxiously awaiting news of her condition.
"The last thing I heard from the hospital was that they were going to really slowly raise her temperature to see if there was any reaction," said a sister who has remained behind in Wellington, Suzanne Tamaki.
