Crash victim learns of father's death

A woman who was injured when a carload of youths struck her vehicle while fleeing police learned yesterday her father had died.

Tania Walsh has been in Middlemore Hospital since the crash on Saturday and had hoped to be transferred to Waikato Hospital so she could visit her gravely ill father, Michael, in Te Kuiti.

He died at 4am yesterday.
