Police are at the scene of a two car crash near Hamurana on the outskirts of Rotorua where one person had to be cut free of the wreckage.
The accident happened just before 11am at the intersection of State Highway 5 and Oturoa Rd and two people, including the victim who was trapped, have been taken to hospital.
Police have no other details at this stage.
Diversions are in place at Tarukenga and Mareroa roads as they intersect with SH5.
