The sole survivor of a horrific Easter weekend crash which killed four young men has come out of a coma and squeezed his mother's hand.
Shane Sheehan, 16, was thrown from the vehicle moments before it crashed and burst into flames near Pukekohe early on Good Friday. He is in intensive care at Auckland Hospital.
Police have formally identified the four who died. They were the owner and driver, 19-year-old Sebastian Sigmoney, and passengers Rodney Mountford, 25, Steven Upson, 16, and Gordon Ngaia, 16.
