Motorists heading north through Auckland on State Highway 1 are in for some heavy delays following a crash.
Photos provided to the Herald by a reader at about 12pm showed a car with a crumpled rear end on the side of the motorway on the Newmarket Viaduct, amid crawling traffic.

The NZ Transport agency said the crash was free of the lanes, but delays were expected from Gillies Ave to Khyber Pass Rd northbound.
