A mother whose car left the road and plunged 15m into a river in the Bay of Plenty on Wednesday was still seriously ill yesterday.
A Tauranga Hospital spokeswoman said the 25-year-old woman remained in intensive care. An 8-year-old girl was discharged yesterday, and a 4-year-old child was in a stable condition.
The three were airlifted to hospital after the crash on State Highway 2 in the Waioeka Gorge.
The woman was trapped and had to be freed by emergency services. A Trustpower TECT rescue helicopter pilot said the car left the road, flipped and landed on its wheels in the Waioeka River.
