Three generations of one family died in a road accident that claimed four lives in Taranaki on Tuesday night.
Kathleen Jean Marshall, 69, her sons Brian Andrew Marshall, 44, and Thomas George Marshall, 38, and her grand-daughter, Tania Marie Marshall, 18, died in the crash on State Highway 3 at Tariki, between Inglewood and Stratford.
The Normanby family were travelling to a motorsport club meeting at Inglewood when their northbound Holden Commodore collided head-on with a light removal truck about 7pm.
Police said the car apparently hit the left-hand railing of a bridge over the Mangamawhete Stream, then bounced into the path of the oncoming truck.
Occupants of the truck suffered moderate to severe leg injuries.
