Crash halts traffic in Wellington

A car and trailer rolled just north of Wellington this afternoon, blocking traffic heading out of the city on State Highway 1.

The minor injury crash happened on the northern side of The Terrace tunnel shortly before 2pm, bringing traffic to a standstill, Senior Sergeant Marty Edgehill of central police communications said.

The southbound lane into the city was opened by 2.30pm, but emergency services would be at the scene for some time clearing the road, he told NZPA.

Police were blocking traffic from entering the tunnel at Willis St.
