KEY POINTS:
The teenage driver of a stolen Mercedes car involved in a fatal collision which left two people dead last month has now been charged over their deaths.
The 16-year-old, who cannot be named, appeared in North Shore Youth Court today, where his lawyer said he would not deny two charges of dangerous driving causing death, two of dangerous driving causing injury and one of unlicensed driving.
He also faced charges of unlawfully taking a Mercedes car, burglary, theft and unlawfully taking five other vehicles.
The driving charges follow a horrendous smash at Dome Valley, 75km north of Auckland on October 3 when it is alleged the youth pulled out to pass other traffic and collided head-on with a Rav 4.
Two passengers in the Mercedes -- Hemi Paul Pomana Marcus Noble, 17, of Kaitaia, and Frederick Te Aparua Murphy, 34, of Kerikeri -- were killed.
