Crash delays traffic heading to Pukekohe for V8s

A serious crash on State Highway 2 is affecting motorists heading to Pukekohe for the V8 racing.

The accident, about 5km from SH1 is causing major disruption to traffic, police said.

Two trucks and two cars are believed to be involved, with one person suffering moderate injuries.

Eastbound traffic is backed up to SH1 and there is a similar backlog northbound.

Inspector Ian Brooker said: "Attending staff have partially opened lanes in both directions but delays can be expected. Motorists are asked to take extra care and be patient."
