KEY POINTS:
A four-car crash is causing "significant hold-ups" on Wellington's urban motorway, police have said.
The crash occurred in the northbound lane of State Highway One, 200 metres north of the Aotea on-ramp.
Police have closed other on-ramps to prevent further delays and motorists are being urged to avoid the area until 4.45pm.
Early indications were that the crash could have been caused by a motorist avoiding debris on the motorway. There have been no injuries reported.
