A two vehicle crash has caused the closure of State Highway 2 in Upper Hutt.
Police said the highway is closed on River Road between Gibbons Street and Whakatiki Street.
Diversions are in place and the State Highway was expected to remain closed until about 5pm to allow the Police Serious Crash Unit to complete the examination of the scene and for the vehicles to be removed.
North bound traffic are advised to use the Fergusson Drive route to or through Upper Hutt.
