Crash blocks two lanes on Auckland's Southern Motorway, causing delays

A crash blocked two lanes of Auckland's Southern Motorway between Takanini and Manurewa earlier this afternoon.

A truck and a car collided, said fire service northern communications shift manager Karen Larking.

Fire services arrived at the crash at 3.15pm.

The New Zealand Transport Agency warned motorists to expect delays, saying the crash had blocked two northbound lanes after the Great South Road offramp.

At 3.48pm NZTA tweeted that the road was now cleared, but to expect delays with congestion back to Mt Welllington.

Meanwhile, a crash between Fairlie and Tekapo has closed State Highway 8 (Burkes Pass).

Motorists are advised to take an alternative route.

In Wellington, a car blocking the northbound lefthand lane just prior to the Ngauranga Interchange is expected to cause significant delays.
