Crash blocks SH2 near Melling, Lower Hutt, one person seriously injured

State Highway 2 (SH2) is now open in both directions after a car and truck crashed earlier this morning, closing the road.

But police have advised southbound vehicles still cannot turn right into Tirohanga Rd due to a traffic light issue.

There were significant delays on SH2 this morning after the crash in which one person was seriously injured.

Emergency services responded to the crash near the Melling Link, Lower Hutt, which occurred just after 6.30.

Wellington Free Ambulance said one person was taken to hospital in a serious condition, while another was treated on scene.
