Crash at Dairy Flat kills one

One person was killed and another seriously injured in an accident on State Highway 17 last night.

Two cars were involved in the crash near Dairy Flat, just north of Albany, about 7.45pm, said police spokesman Inspector Andy Brill.

At least one of the cars broke up on impact and debris was scattered across 400m of road.

The seriously injured person was taken to Auckland City Hospital.
