Nearly 2000 revellers took in the second annual Greater Wellington BrewDay in Martinborough on Saturday, with organisers calling it a "sell-out" event.
BrewDay event manager Karen Aitken said BrewDay attracted 1850 craft beer enthusiasts from up and down the country and helped cement Greater Wellington region's growing reputation as the craft beer capital of New Zealand.
"The feedback I received from both the brewers and distillers was fantastic and festival-goers all commented on the relaxed atmosphere, the variety of beers and non-alcoholic drinks on offer and how reasonably priced everything, including the food, was," she said.
The event, held on a festival site on Kitchener St, included seminars and a pub quiz, while others enjoyed late summer sun listening to live music performed by Circa, The Pelorus Trust Wellington Brass Band, Mr Groove and The Noodles.
Beers on offer included Martinborough Brewery, Regent 58 and Peak Brewery (Wairarapa); Panhead Custom Ales, Baylands Brewery, ParrotDog, Fork and Brewer, Blackdog Brew Co, Yeastie Boys, Funk Estate, Kereru Brewery and Garage Project, (Wellington) and Tuatara, Northend (Kapiti).
