Collaboration in New Zealand science will avoid the "chaos" and disjointed approach which an American critic says has damaged some Covid-19 research elsewhere, a Dunedin-based specialist says.
"It's one of the strengths of New Zealand science — it's highly collaborative," Professor Kurt Krause, a specialist in infectious diseases at the University of Otago biochemistry department, said.

That collaborative approach continued apace on Friday with experts from throughout the country meeting online to discuss national efforts to develop a vaccine against coronavirus.
Krause, the centre's inaugural director, said New Zealand Covid-19 researchers, including at Otago, had also joined forces by recently approaching the Government seeking support to establish one national state-supported vaccine development programme.
