KEY POINTS:
The Napier man accused of murdering his neighbour knew about her violent death before her body was discovered the Napier District Court has been told.
Zion King, 47, has denied murdering Chattrice Maihi-Carroll earlier this year.
The 46-year-old mother-of-four was found dead in her Cottrell Cres home in Onekawa, Napier, on January 21.
She was naked and had been stabbed several times.
During the deposition hearing yesterday, prosecutor Russell Collins said King, who worked for a food-processing company, went to work that day and told workmates his neighbour had been murdered, The Dominion Post reported.
Hatuma Foods staff said they remembered the specific day because it was the last day of work before the factory closed.
There was only one way King could have known about Miss Maihi-Carroll's death at that stage, Mr Collins said.
The hearing continues.
