The long-running search for a home for New Zealand's highest court is set to go before Cabinet again in the next few weeks.
The Supreme Court is currently sitting in the High Court at Wellington, while its judges' offices are across the road in Victoria University's law building.
The old High Court building, in Stout St, near Wellington District Court, was named as the court's intended permanent home in late 2003.
But a debate between judges and the Government over the cost and type of refurbishment, and also the intervention of the Historic Places Trust which blocked changes, have left the old High Court run down and empty.
