A court has delayed the case against the publishers and two staff at the Hawke's Bay Today newspaper, who are charged with printing details alleged to be likely to lead to the identification of a sex victim.
APN News and Media, which also owns the Herald, and editor Louis Pierard are jointly charged with publishing a story containing details in court proceedings.
Reporter Douglas Laing is charged with authoring, writing and causing the story to be published.
No pleas have been entered to the charges, laid by the Hastings police under the Criminal Justice Act, and which carry a maximum penalty of a $1000 fine.
The charges relate to a story published in September last year after a man was sentenced to imprisonment for sex offences against the victim when she was a teenager. The offender's name was published but that of the victim was not.
The case was to have been called in at Hastings District Court today, but the parties had agreed to an administrative adjournment until February 16.
