A couple have caused hundreds of dollars of damage to a room at the Rainforest Retreat at Franz Josef Glacier during a heated argument.
The young man and woman, who live in the Franz Josef area, will be paying reparation of more than $600 for the damage they caused while staying at the resort, constable Brad Morton, of Franz Josef police, said today.
In lieu of criminal charges the pair would have to pay and they had been trespassed from the Rainforest Retreat.
The couple were at the resort - which has tree houses, tree lodges, tree huts and park motels - last weekend for a "special celebration", Mr Morton said.
The Rainforest Retreat website describes the venue as: "Nestled in six acres of native bush and surrounded by lush punga groves, Rainforest Retreat offers a wide range of accommodation - all built to embrace the natural environment.
