Couple on trial for death of baby

The High Court trial of a couple charged over the death of their baby started in Whangarei this morning.

David and Catherine Tribble, of Pakotai, 60km northwest of Whangarei, have pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to provide the necessaries of life and endangering the life of their four-month-old son, Caleb Nathaniel Tribble, on December 5, 2003.

Lawyer Arthur Fairley is representing Catherine Tribble and Ron Mansfield is appearing for David Tribble.

The trial is expected to run for about three weeks.
