The TV presenter girlfriend of All Black Adam Thomson says they are keen to put their legal misery behind them.
Last week Thomson, 27, was cleared of two charges of assault on Joanna Holley, 26, in Hastings District Court, which resulted from an incident early on December 21, after a friend's wedding reception in Havelock North.
Holley admitted she called the police and said Thomson had scratched her brow during an argument in their room at the Village Court Motel.
Holley told the Herald on Sunday that the scratch was an accident.
"He was trying to come into the room, pushing the door open and I was trying to push it closed and he pushed the door open, not even forcedly, but because of his height being taller than me and where his arm was placed the door gave me a tiny little inchy scratch but that was it," she said.
"There's no way that I'd be with somebody, and my whanau would let me be with somebody, if they ever even put a hand up to me."
Holley was a presenter on TV2 children's show Squirt until the end of 2006. She also starred in an Ingham chicken breast fillets television advert.
Holley would not expand on the details of the incident, saying alcohol was a factor but they weren't "that much out of control".
When Holley took the stand in court last week, she said the argument started when she thought her boyfriend was "ignoring her". She snapped his Von Zipper sunglasses, which made Thomson walk away.
Thomson pushed Holley when she then stood in front of him trying to stop him boarding a bus.
The argument erupted later at the motel, leading to Holley's "scratch" when she tried to block him from entering the motel room.
The couple have known each other for three years and been together nearly a year. Holley said marriage and babies were something she was looking forward to some day.
"I'm not looking for it now, lots of career and things to do at the moment," she said. "If we're still strong in a few more years, we'll see what happens."
Couple keen to move on
