A German couple tied the knot while skydiving over the Abel Tasman National Park yesterday.
Jan Schslesner and Susann Lasch exchanged vows at 3500 feet before rising to 16,500 feet and leaping out, followed by the marriage celebrant and a cameraman who filmed the action. In freefall, they shared their wedding kiss.
After freefalling for about a minute the pair deployed their parachutes and were greeted with champagne when they landed at Motueka Airport.
The couple, who met at a skydive dropzone in Berlin and live in Hamburg, wanted to get married in the same way that they met, a Skydive Abel Tasman spokeswoman said.
And after celebrating Valentine's Day early, they will now spend their honeymoon travelling New Zealand.
