Blood-soaked carpet and household items have been removed from the home of an Auckland couple found dead after the woman's 14-year-old sister called 111.
Police have named Jacqueline Allister, 26, and Ivor Christiansen, 36, as the two people found inside their Pakuranga home with fatal knife wounds in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Facebook postings reveal the couple were engaged and it is understood that they had recently returned from Britain.
Mr Christiansen worked in finance at an Auckland car dealership and Ms Allister worked at a local restaurant.
It is understood that Ms Allister's teenage sister was in the Walworth Ave house and called 111 just after midnight when the couple were having a serious domestic argument.
The 14-year-old - whom the Herald has decided not to name - is a student at Pakuranga College and called police in a panic. When officers arrived minutes later, the couple had already died from serious stab wounds.
Neighbours said police took blood-soaked items from the house yesterday afternoon.
One man, who asked not to be named, said about seven bloodied items and carpet were taken.
"They were completely soaked in blood. I'm not sure if it was his or hers, but these things were just covered in it.
"It was horrific and gruesome, it was everywhere."
He said the couple had been in the house for six months and he had often seen two young children, aged about 8, playing on the front lawn.
"They seemed pretty nice and the children were very sweet ... It's just a shock that this has happened on our street. No one can quite believe it. It's just eerily quiet here."
Counties Manukau police are investigating the double death, but are not looking for anyone else.
Post-mortem examinations were conducted yesterday on the couple.
Another neighbour, David Gordon, said police were doorknocking in Walworth Ave interviewing residents.
Mr Gordon had previously said that he was awoken by the couple's fighting, which sounded agitated and alcohol fuelled.
"I heard this yelling and it sounded pretty bad so I went to call the police.
"But as I was picking up the phone I looked out of the window and saw all these police cars coming and coming and coming."
