KEY POINTS:
Auckland City Council has agreed to pay $30 million toward the $190 million needed to upgrade Eden Park for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.
The council has also promised to provide another $20 million for transport and design improvements in the area.
The chairman of the Eden Park Redevelopment Board, John Waller, welcomed the announcement, saying it was great news for both Eden Park and the Rugby World Cup.
