Changes to car parking on the south side of Masterton's Perry Street and in the vicinity of Town Square are likely to soon become a reality.
Masterton District Council will decide later today whether to enforce a p120 restriction on Perry Street on the south side between the Senior Citizens hall and Miller Place, bringing an end to free parking on the south side of the street.
Councillors will also vote on whether to impose the same time restriction on the Town Square car park using signs and doing away with the pay and display method.
The Perry Street changes are aimed at allowing a better turnover of parking in the area and councillors will be asked to sanction kerb replacement and altered street markings to herald the new parking regime.
A review of parking on both sides of Perry Street between Cole and Coradine streets was done in May with half-hourly surveys between 10am and 4pm on one particular day recording the occupancy of each of 47 street parking places.
