The Auckland Regional Council wants to buy the Boys' Brigade's Camp Steadfast.
The council last night voted to enter into negotiations for the 8.22ha Piha site, which has a capital valuation of more than $500,000 but sales figures suggest could fetch more than $800,000.
The council wants to continue the existing camp and use the park to enhance public access to the Waitakere Ranges.
