An employment dispute between an experienced plastic surgeon and the Waikato District Health Board is set to head to court again.
Dr Adam Greenbaum took a case against the DHB to the Employment Relations Authority which was settled out of court before the three-day hearing finished in December.
Dr Greenbaum, who emigrated from Britain in late 2009, works as a consultant plastic surgeon on a fixed-term contract which ends in January next year.
The details of the employment case are secret. But it is understood Dr Greenbaum made the claim with the ERA after he was offered a permanent position with the DHB which was later withdrawn.
Dr Greenbaum said yesterday a confidentiality clause in the settlement agreement stopped him from commenting.
"As it happens [Waikato DHB] seems to have just broken the agreement, so we're about to take them back to court," said Dr Greenbaum.
"At that stage, I'd be able to tell you. But at the moment I can't put myself in the wrong."
Spokeswoman Mary Anne Gill said the DHB had not broken the confidentiality clause.
DHB human resources manager Greg Peploe confirmed Dr Greenbaum was still employed on a fixed-term contract, not in a permanent position.
Dr Greenbaum is the managing director of Cutting Edge Cosmetic Surgery, a private practice in Harley St, London, that offers cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. His website says he spent 26 years working in the public health sector.
