KEY POINTS:
The man who leaked police files on the Nia Glassie murder case to the media says he was given the material by a Department of Corrections employee.
Corrections has confirmed it is investigating whether a disgruntled staff member smuggled a box of police documents on the Glassie case out of Auckland Women's Prison a fortnight ago.
The documents, which form the bulk of the police case, had earlier been in the possession of one of the accused, 18-year-old Oriwa Kemp.
"Kevin", the man who leaked the documents to the Herald on Sunday, initially claimed he found them at a tip in Auckland's East Tamaki.
But last week he changed his story, saying he had received them from an aggrieved Auckland Women's Prison employee.
It has since emerged there may be a link between this incident and the theft three weeks ago of a 30-page dossier containing top-secret details about several of the country's most serious criminal offenders. A separate investigation has been launched and a Corrections staff member has already been suspended over the matter.
Corrections is also saying little about a second confidential document found on the streets last week.
